I thought of myself as an artist all my life, drawing and painting as part of my being. I took courses and lessons while pursuing a career in nursing administration and education, but didn't truly become the artist I always wanted to be until forced into early retirement by an injury. I thought of myself as an artist all my life, drawing and painting as part of my being. I took courses and lessons while pursuing a career in nursing administration and education, but didn't truly become the artist I always wanted to be until forced into early retirement by an injury. My work has been shown and won awards in invitational and juried exhibitions throughout Ohio and

I work primarily in acrylic, but use oil at times when its characteristics lend themselves to my purpose. I also like to use modeling paste or incorporate fabric and other materials into the paint to represent textures in my subject matter. I work on either canvas or masonite panel, that I prepare with layers of gesso, sanded to my desired smoothness for the project.
I take my inspiration from nature, and human interaction with nature. I will also just paint whatever interests me in terms of color and design. I have a love for sharp focus and deep color that draws in the viewer. I lean toward surrealistic realism, and those paintings that initially appear to only be a "pretty picture" tell a deeper
